Management of MTN has announced the appointment of Shoyinka Shodunke as GM, IS Service Delivery in the Information Systems Division with effect from Friday March 30, 2012.

 

Shoyinka aka “Sho boy”  as he is known in the FGC Kano family, is a 1985 alumnus of Federal Government College Kano. He has over 15 years experience in Information Technology Strategy, Architecture and Operations, He holds a B.Tech honours degree in Computer Science and Mathematics from the Federal University of Technology, Yola, a Post Graduate Diploma in Management Studies from University of Sunderland, and professional certifications in Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT) and Microsoft Certified DBA (MCDBA).

 

Shoyinka began his career in MTN Nigeria as a Senior Applications Manager in 2001 and was responsible for the design and development of Project/Product Concepts, using System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) development methodology in accordance with eTOM framework. He was also responsible for the innovation of the Recharge a Contract service for which he won the first IT Name in Lights award.

 

In 2008, he was seconded to MTN Zambia as the CIO, a role he performed until March 2011, when he was seconded to MTN Uganda. While in Zambia, he handled various responsibilities including the design and delivery of the first Converged Charging and Customer Management Platform. This ensured the same products and services were available across traditional post and prepaid subscriber types with payment methods being the singular difference. He also facilitated the deployment and monitoring of Corporate Information Policies, Standards and Guidelines. 

 

In Uganda, as the General Manager, Architecture and Planning for MTN IT Shared Services, South East Africa, he had responsibility for streamlining and ensuring adherence to Group IT design and standards.  He is currently the Chairman of IT Group Architecture Working Committee, responsible for the development of designs for Group standardization.

 

As GM, IS Service Delivery in MTNN, he will provide the business intelligence required to develop strategies to ensure that the technical direction of IS gains and supports competitive advantage for MTNN. He will also monitor and adapt IS strategies to best practice and new technologies while ensuring that IS investments are protected from technology risks.

 

Shoyinka is also a regular speaker and mediator at international conferences in several fields ranging from converged billing to CRM. He is a contributor to TM Forum responsible for Next Generation Operations Support Systems.
